About the role

The University of Chester is a values-driven institution committed to placing students at the heart of everything it does, pursuing academic excellence while making a positive impact on society. Through its Citizen Student Strategy, the University champions inclusive opportunity, civic responsibility and meaningful engagement with communities, positioning itself as an ambitious and purposeful university with a strong sense of social mission. Chester Medical School is at a formative and pivotal stage of development. Having welcomed its first Graduate Entry MBChB cohort in September 2024, the School is now scaling delivery, progressing through GMC quality assurance and embedding a distinctive, case-based curriculum with early and sustained clinical exposure. With growing student demand, a strengthening network of NHS partners and new investment in facilities at Bache Hall, the School is rapidly establishing itself and is now poised to play a leading role in shaping the future healthcare workforce across the North West. The Director of Medical Studies will provide senior academic and operational leadership for the MBChB programme, ensuring excellence in curriculum delivery, regulatory compliance and student outcomes, while building strong partnerships across the NHS and wider sector. Key priorities include embedding high-quality, GMC-aligned education, strengthening clinical placement provision and driving continuous improvement across a complex, multi-partner programme. Successful candidates will bring, first, a track record of senior leadership in medical education with deep understanding of curriculum, assessment and quality assurance and second, the credibility and collaborative approach to inspire teams and build effective partnerships across academic and clinical environments. Applications are invited at your earliest convenience, and no later than Friday 19 th June 23:45 BST. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview in person at the University of Chester in early August. Competitive
