Senior / Marine Mammal Specialist

Responsibilities

• Animal Husbandry:
• Supervise dolphin care and husbandry, including feeding, handling, observation, enrichment, conditioning and training.
• Support veterinary procedures.
• Manage the maintenance of dolphin habitats.
• Handle data recording and reports.
• Ensure cleanliness and safety of workplace, tools and equipment.
• Team Management:
• Manage overall team performance in animal husbandry, ensuring support and proper training is given to junior members.
• Guest Programmes:
• Supervise and perform guest interaction programmes.
• Plan for improvements in product offerings.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Life Sciences, Psychology or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of work experience in a marine mammal facility or equivalent.
• Possess SCUBA certification (preferably at Rescue Diver).
• Confident to work in an aquatic environment.
• Animal husbandry knowledge and passion to work with animals.
• Possess good verbal communication skills.
• Able to perform shift work, including on weekends and public holidays.
• Physically fit and able to lift 15kg of weight as this position requires handling of heavy equipment.
