Basic Purpose of the Position: The Design Engineer is a critical role responsible for managing the engineering aspects of localization. This position combines form/fit/function analysis, value engineering, localized design, BOM management and cross-functional collaboration to optimize local manufacturing and aftermarket parts availability. Major Responsibility Area #1: Design for local manufacturing Working in teams on the development of concepts, testing, investigation and verification of concepts and designs. To execute the maintenance and mechanical design of machinery, layouts, assemblies and components, to fulfill the design and requirements, to prepare assembly/detail drawings and part lists. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising product quality or delivery schedules. Drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives at the Site level. Engage cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful VAVE implementation and savings capturing. Major Responsibility Area #2: Parts localization Identifying and evaluating new suppliers in collaboration with operations, aftermarket and global sourcing teams. Paying attention to the function, reliability, safety, production technologies and cost. Engage cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful parts implementation and savings capturing. Major Responsibility Area #3: Technical documentation Review and update technical documentation in accordance with localization. Distribute necessary technical documentation to customers, site supervisors, and suppliers. Education: Mandatory: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

Requirements

  • Mandatory: Minimum of 5 years in engineering, with a strong background in production processes.
  • Knowledge of the food processing industry requirements.
  • Good understanding of mechanics and industrial automation.
  • Experience with or knowledge of 3D design tools.
  • Experience with and comfort working in multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization.
  • Excellent skills in written and spoken English.
  • Travel Requirements:
  • Frequent visits to JBTM plant and local suppliers will be required.
  • Some international travel may be required.
