About the role
The Office of the Commandant (OOC) serves and supports departments within the Corps of Cadets that are critically engaged in all aspects of student development and the delivery of key services and support. OOC departments work to create environments that help students grow, develop, learn, and enhance their experience at Texas A&M by providing leadership opportunities, experiential education, and connections beyond the classroom. This position will be part of a centralized team that supports the active recruiting efforts of future cadets and their families to Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets. What We Want The Program Specialist II position supports the recruiting efforts of the Office of the Commandant by assisting with the coordination of recruiting events and outreach initiatives, maintaining and reconciling prospective student data across multiple systems, and providing administrative support to recruiting leadership. The role ensures accurate tracking of prospective cadets throughout the admissions process, generates reports and outreach lists to support recruitment strategies, and contributes to the effective execution of on- and off-campus recruiting programs. Responsibilities
- Recruitment Operations
- Assists the planning and execution of Corps recruiting events, including on-campus programs, group visits, New Student Conferences, and signature recruiting initiatives.
- Assists with prospective student and family engagement activities, including scheduling appointments, coordinating visit logistics, and preparing recruiting materials.
- Provides operational support during major recruiting programs and events, including evening or weekend activities as required.
- Maintains working knowledge of ongoing recruiting initiatives and assists in tracking prospective student engagement.
- Corresponds with high school counselors, Junior ROTC instructors, school officials, and prospective students to provide information about the Corps of Cadets and Texas A&M admissions processes.
- Supports off-campus recruiting efforts and assists with preparation of presentations and materials for outreach activities.
- Assist with Corps activities during the Texas A&M Aggieland Saturday Program.
- Provides support for on-campus recruiting programs, including high school/family/group and Corps recruiting programs (Corps Discovery Day (CDD), Spend the Night with the Corps (SNWC), Corps Leadership Invitational (CLI), and others).
- Data Management and Reporting
- Maintains and reconciles recruiting data across multiple platforms (e.g., SLATE, Excel, and other tracking systems) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of prospective student records.
- Compiles, updates, and reconciles Service Academy lists provided to the Corps of Cadets by federal law and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Scholarship lists provided by Texas A&M ROTCs with university systems.
- Identifies discrepancies or missing information between databases and updates systems to maintain data integrity.
- Tracks and monitors the status of prospective students throughout the admissions and recruitment lifecycle.
- Generates call sheets, prospect lists, and targeted outreach reports based on recruitment priorities and strategic initiatives.
- Analyzes recruiting data to identify trends, inconsistencies in student admission information, and opportunities for improved outreach. Collects, compiles, and prepares historical and comparative reports to support Recruitment leadership decision-making.
- Serves as a resource to the recruitment area for data tracking processes and ensures compliance with university data security and quality standards.
- Departmental Duties
- Provides administrative support to recruiting leadership, including preparing reports and presentation materials.
- Participates in departmental meetings and contributes to process improvement initiatives.
- Represents the Office of the Commandant at appropriate on- and off-campus events as needed with potential travel.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of departmental goals and recruiting operations.
Requirements
- Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of related experience.
- Microsoft 360 Certifications.
