Healthiest Lives. Together. JOB DESCRIPTION: This position supports the daily operation of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Histology division. The Laboratory Assistant I performs clerical, technical, or both duties as they pertain to the specific Laboratory division. Provides general laboratory support including accurate data entry in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), quality assurance of accessions, and logging of daily laboratory safety checks. Supports histology operations through data collection, specimen tracking, and timely reporting of incidents or issues. Assists with inventory management by maintaining supplies, preparing and transporting reagents, and ensuring organized, safe storage areas. Helps maintain laboratory equipment and workspaces by performing routine maintenance, adhering to safety protocols, and disposing of materials according to guidelines. Manages blocks and slides by preparing, organizing, tracking, and archiving materials, ensuring accuracy and readiness for testing or send-out, while maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and efficient work environment. Cross-trains between histology and surgical dissection as needed. EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent.
