JOB DETAILS Pay Range: $22.50-$24.50 per hour Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Thursday, 4:00 am - 2:30 pm, plus overtime based on production needs, including frequent work on Fridays and some Saturdays. JOB REQUIREMENTS Operates forklift to receive, deliver, and otherwise move materials between and throughout two adjacent manufacturing buildings (North and South). Primary task is to receive orders from production lines and deliver requested materials and uses forklift to unload incoming cargo containers and move materials around the facility. Also must assist in month-end counting, accuracy verification and in maintaining the accuracy of inventory records. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Supports production lines: At start of shift, communicates with last shift to determine order sequence and completion. Receives order paperwork, incoming radio call, or in-person request for materials. Reviews order and/or writes down verbal order information on notepad. Orders needed PVC profile materials from extrusion. Obtains materials from North building (supply area), extrusion, receiving areas in South building, or elsewhere within the South building. Delivers materials to appropriate production line in a timely manner. Must prioritize orders and determine sequence of delivery. Must identify when to stop one task and begin another based on production needs. Unloads incoming materials from cargo containers in either building. Moves unused glass materials from staging area into waste container. Moves unused PVC materials from fabrication staging area to extrusion department for re-use. Must be able to clearly communicate with internal customers and record order information. Must be able to prioritize tasks according to production needs. Must be able to obtain and deliver materials in a timely fashion. Must be able to safely and effectively operate the forklift, using both hands and feet, as well as visual and auditory senses. Knowledge: Ability to read, write and speak simple English as appropriate to a manufacturing environment. Must be able to read production tags, production paperwork, safety warning labels and signs; must be able to verbally communicate with coworkers, leads and supervisor regarding the production process and safety related information. Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16th inch and use a chart to convert it to a decimal. Ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations. Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, physically demonstrated or diagrammed form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations. Ability to prioritize work tasks according to production requirements. Knowledge of all safety practices and procedures. Broad knowledge of production line positions, products and procedures. Mental/Physical/Visual Demands: Must possess common sense, positive attitude, demonstrate excellent attendance and perform effectively under stress. Must be quality and safety conscious, and a team player. Must be able to work quickly with product and able to lift and carry 75 pounds maximum for short distances. Ability to turn on/off forklift. Ability to manipulate the forklift steering wheel, gears, levers and foot pedals simultaneously to effectively operate the forklift. Knowledge of forklift control functions (four function lever, brake/clutch combination). Ability to operate the forklift while visually scanning the environment (able to operate forklift without having to look at controls). Must have excellent manual dexterity and be able to concentrate for sustained periods. Must have good communication skills and be able to interact with people. Ability to frequently push/pull, bend at the waist and neck, kneel/squat, twist, reach above shoulders and below waist, use repetitive hand/arm movements, grasp, pinch, climb and work at heights when driving forklift and ascend/descend forklift in order to complete the essential functions of this job on a accurate and continual basis in a fast-paced production environment. Working Conditions: Manufacturing environment: Open plant, cement floors, stationary machinery, moving equipment, exposure to various chemicals, solvents, glass and vinyl dust (MSDS' available upon request). Equipment/Tools Used: Forklift, carts, pallet jacks, paperwork, pens/pencils and radio. Required personal protective equipment inclusive of but not limited to: Hearing protection, steel-toe boots, safety glasses and hard hat. Safety: Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals. Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions.
