We are seeking a self-motivated Plumber Assistant for our Preventative Maintenance and Electrical (PM&E) sections to include Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Performing a variety of semiskilled tasks with a primary focus in plumbing repairs and installation, preventative maintenance duties on pump stations (Lubrication, Strainers, Valves). Secondary responsibilities will include assisting electricians with running conduit, pulling wire, repairing lights, etc., assisting with preventative maintenance and repair duties with HVAC (Filters, Coil Cleaning, Lubrication, etc.) and any general park maintenance. - Performing other tasks as needed and may be reassigned to a different group of trades such as general maintenance and caging depending on the needs of the organization. - Using a computer for work order processing, time entries, performance evaluations, and/or product research, etc. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Please note: Job postings close at 11:59:59 p.m. the night before the listed Posting End Date above. Basic Electrical knowledge Basic HVAC knowledge Position/Physical Requirements: Job offer is contingent upon passing a pre-employment screen conducted by assigned provider. Position is considered "Essential/Mandatory Staff" and required to work on adverse weather days and during zoo emergencies. Work Hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm Must be able to work weekend and holiday on-call weekend rotations, and some after work shifts. Must participate in occupational health program. Must have good physical agility, strength, good hearing, vision, perform physically demanding labor in extremes of weather, and challenging physical environments such as animal enclosures. Must have ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally, pounds, walk, stand, see animals & exhibits for observation and safety as well as hear animal's sounds, radio communication and emergency situations with or without reasonable accommodation. Perform work in confined spaces such as filter pits, vaults, sumps, tanks, and mechanical rooms in accordance with safety protocols Must have a valid driver's license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment. Must be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic. Must have very good written and oral communication skills.
