About the role
AgeCare is seeking an experienced and strategic legal executive to serve as General Counsel and Vice President, Legal & Corporate Services. Responsibilities
- Strategic Legal Leadership - Serve as the organization's chief legal advisor, providing strategic counsel to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and shareholders on legal, governance, regulatory, and risk management matters.
- Corporate Governance - Provide leadership and oversight for corporate governance processes, including board and shareholder relations, corporate records management, and regulatory filings.
- Procurement & Contract Governance - Oversee enterprise procurement and contract management frameworks, including the development, review, negotiation, and administration of contracts related to operations, services, leases, and partnerships.
- Policy & Regulatory Compliance - Lead the development and oversight of organizational policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements across jurisdictions.
- Corporate Transactions & Strategic Initiatives - Provide legal leadership for corporate transactions, including real estate matters, financing arrangements, and development initiatives, and support responses to RFPs and evaluation of strategic growth opportunities.
- Privacy & Information Governance - Serve as Privacy Officer and Chair of the Information Management Committee, ensuring strong governance practices related to information management, privacy, and data protection.
- Organizational Leadership - Support and mentor staff within corporate services functions while fostering a collaborative culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- External Representation - Represent AgeCare in legal, regulatory, and industry engagements while maintaining strong relationships with external counsel, advisors, and stakeholders.
- What You Bring
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Member in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society (or eligible for admission).
- 10+ years of progressive legal experience, preferably in corporate, commercial, or healthcare-related law.
- Senior leadership or executive-level experience advising organizational leadership.
- Experience supporting corporate governance and complex organizational structures.
- Experience with contracts, procurement, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions.
- Exceptional legal and business judgment.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business guidance.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to risk management.
