Responsibilities

  • Works under the direction of a more experienced engineer to execute design responsibilities.
  • Designs electrical systems of basic complexity in conformance with code requirements and in coordination with other design disciplines.

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting

Requirements

  • Relevant design firm experience
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion
  • Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations and developing and implementing electrical lighting, power and special systems designs
  • Ability to interface with clients and external partners
  • Ability to travel as required for client development and project execution
  • Fundamental experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and providing support of field reporting activities
  • Proficient at fundamental electrical design calculations under the supervision of an engineer
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD

The Entry-Level Electrical Engineer focuses on the design and engineering of power, lighting, grounding/bonding, special systems (e.g., telephone/data, security, fire alarm), raceway, cable tray, and other electrical control and building support systems into the built work environment. Typical tasks and deliverables include power load, illumination, short circuit and voltage drop calculations; basis of design reports; code evaluations; one-line diagrams; plans; schedules; installation details; and coordination with manufacturers and construction trade partners. Tasks will include utilizing software for building information modeling, computer-aided drafting and engineering calculations. Project work will be under the direction of a more experienced engineer and may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration.
