Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate mission-critical services that power authentication, identity, and secure access across Box.
  • Improve the reliability, observability, and deployment safety of critical authentication infrastructure.

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend or distributed systems.
  • Strong Java development skills and a track record of delivering production software.
  • Experience building and operating backend services in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex technical issues.
  • Effective communicator who enjoys collaborating across teams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience in authentication, identity, authorization, or enterprise security domains.
  • Familiarity with OAuth, OIDC, SAML, MFA, or related authentication technologies.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS , or Azure .
  • Experience with PHP, TypeScript , and React is a plus.
  • Prior experience working on internal platforms or systems requiring high reliability, security, and compliance.
