About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ST3-level Registrar in Emergency Medicine to join a busy, well-supported Emergency Department within a central London teaching hospital. This is an excellent placement for doctors keen to develop confidence in managing undifferentiated emergencies while working alongside a large, experienced multidisciplinary team. You'll be supported by senior registrars and consultants on every shift, gaining exposure to majors, minors, resus, and rapid assessment areas - ideal for those progressing through EM training or looking to consolidate acute skills through locum work.

Responsibilities

  • Initial assessment and management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Work across majors, minors, resus, and the Rapid Assessment & Treatment (RAT) area.
  • Carry out investigations, formulate management plans, and liaise with inpatient specialties.
  • Support and supervise junior doctors (FY/SHO level) and nursing staff as appropriate.
  • Participate in handovers, departmental teaching, and clinical governance meetings.
  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate care in line with Trust standards.
  • Person Specification
  • Essential:
  • GMC registration with full licence to practise.
  • Minimum 6 months' recent NHS experience in Emergency Medicine or Acute Care.
  • ALS certification (ATLS/APLS desirable).
  • Confident in managing acutely unwell adults and initiating stabilisation in resus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Desirable:
  • MRCEM (or part-qualified).
  • Previous London or major trauma centre experience.
  • Interest in progressing through EM training.
