Responsibilities

  • Rounds and provides clinical care for in-house pediatric patients.
  • Assists physicians and provides independent clinical care to pediatric patients in the clinic.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • Work Experience:
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through a combination of education and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Certifications:
  • Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration required. Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO). - State of Illinois ---

These experts in the Department of Neurological Surgery offer the full spectrum of neurosurgical services for children and adults with brain diseases including aggressive brain tumors, back and spine degenerative diseases, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and stroke. Our surgeons are truly at the forefront of neurosurgical care, utilizing the most advanced and sophisticated technologies and techniques to treat diseases of the brain and spine. Job Summary The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Neurological Surgery is responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management, including advanced levels of assessment, intervention, planning, and evaluation of care throughout the treatment in consultation with physicians and specialized health resources for treatment. The APP manages a caseload of inpatients and exercises autonomous decision-making in assessing, diagnosing, and initiating delegated medical treatments. The scope of practice includes inpatient and outpatient assessment, treatment and documentation, bedside procedures, family support, discharge planning, patient education, and consultation with adjunctive services within the hospitals. This position will be primarily deployed at UChicago Medicine - Main Campus in Hyde Park, but may be deployed to off-site locations in the future.
