Position Summary Essential Job Functions: Administer, monitor, and optimize enterprise server infrastructure across Windows Server and Linux environments, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across physical, virtual, and cloud-hosted systems. Design, deploy, and maintain virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and/or Nutanix, including cluster management, resource allocation, vMotion, high-availability configuration, and lifecycle planning. Manage and evolve Microsoft 365 and Azure infrastructure services, including Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and Intune, ensuring configurations are secure, well-governed, and aligned to business needs. Administer and maintain on-premises Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and PKI/certificate services, ensuring directory integrity, replication health, and access control policies are properly enforced. Own the enterprise backup and recovery platform, ensuring backup jobs complete successfully, retention policies are enforced, and recovery procedures are documented and tested regularly in line with disaster recovery requirements. Lead and participate in cloud adoption and migration activities, working with architecture stakeholders to migrate workloads to Azure (or equivalent), optimize cloud resource consumption, and enforce platform governance standards. Develop and maintain infrastructure automation and scripting capabilities using PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools, reducing manual effort and improving deployment consistency and repeatability. Manage enterprise storage platforms, including SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage, ensuring capacity, performance, and data protection requirements are met and proactively planned for. Maintain and improve enterprise monitoring and observability tooling, ensuring infrastructure health, capacity thresholds, and security events are surfaced to the appropriate teams in a timely manner. Serve as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and service requests, providing rapid and effective troubleshooting across server, storage, identity, and cloud domains, and ensuring root cause analysis is completed and documented. Mentor and provide technical guidance to Systems Administrators and Junior Systems Administrators, conducting knowledge-sharing sessions, peer reviews, and supporting the development of team technical capability. Manage patching and vulnerability remediation across the server estate, ensuring systems are maintained in a compliant and secure state in line with the organization's patch management policy and security requirements. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all infrastructure components, including build runbooks, configuration baselines, network diagrams, and change records within the CMDB and knowledge management systems. Contribute to IT operations projects and infrastructure improvement initiatives, including hardware refresh cycles, data Centre consolidation, platform upgrades, and business continuity program activities. Collaborate with the IT Security team to ensure server and cloud infrastructure configurations are aligned to security policies and hardening standards, and to respond to audit findings and vulnerability assessments in a timely manner. Participate in the IT on-call rotation, providing after-hours support for critical infrastructure incidents as required and in accordance with the team's operational support agreements. Partners with business stakeholders to translate operational requirements into scalable, fit-for-purpose IT solutions that drive efficiency and support organizational goals.
