Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: The Center for Global Sustainability (CGS, cgs.umd.edu) at the University of Maryland (UMD) seeks to hire up to three Associate Research Professors or Assistant Research Professors in the area of national climate strategy modeling and analysis. Candidates should have a demonstrated track record, appropriate to rank, of research production, field leadership, fundraising, and experience in the research-policy interface. This is a three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track research faculty position within CGS and the larger School of Public Policy at UMD. This position is primarily focused on research; teaching is not a requirement of the position but may be possible. The ideal candidate will have a strong research record and broader experience in one or more of the following topical areas: - Climate, energy, and sustainability strategies in the United States, Indonesia, India, China, and/or Brazil. Complementary expertise in other countries or regional contexts is also welcome. - Non-CO2 greenhouse gas emissions, including methane State or subnational climate action in the United States, internationally, or in other major economies Physical Demands: Sitting/Standing/Walking: The role routinely requires a combination of prolonged sitting for computer work and standing/walking for teaching and lab activities. Lifting: The ability to occasionally lift and move light to moderate items, such as files, office supplies, or small lab equipment, is typically required. Preferences: The candidate should be self-motivated, team-oriented, interested in developing and applying field-leading research to inform policy-making on climate and sustainability issues.
