Axiom Space is guided by the vision to build era-defining space infrastructure that drives exploration and fuels a vibrant space economy for the benefit of every human everywhere. Axiom Space is the leading provider of human spaceflight services and developer of human-rated space Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit. Axiom Space operates end-to-end missions to the International Space Station today while developing its successor, Axiom Station - a permanent commercial destination in low-Earth orbit that will sustain human growth off the planet and bring untold benefits back home. Axiom Space fosters a work environment inclusive of all perspectives. We are the pioneers of commercial space, leading the transformation of low-Earth orbit into a global space marketplace. Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Orbital Cloud Solutions Architect who is fueled by high ownership, execution horsepower, growth mindset, and driven to support Axiom's mission to develop and deploy ODCs. POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a resilient, high‑energy Orbital Cloud Solutions Architect to define, build, and evolve the end‑to‑end cloud ecosystem that powers Axiom's operations on Earth and on‑orbit within Axiom's Orbital Data Centers (ODCs). This role serves as the technical and strategic leader responsible for architecting scalable, secure, and mission‑ready cloud solutions that integrate seamlessly across ground systems, space‑based infrastructure, and customer‑facing platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep cloud engineering expertise, a systems‑level mindset, and the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced, pioneering environment. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Architect and Deliver Axiom's Ground and On‑Orbit Cloud Infrastructure Develop the cloud architecture, requirements, and system design for Axiom's ground and ODC environments, supporting mission control operations, in‑space infrastructure, software development, and customer‑driven product platforms. Design workflow automation pipelines that maximize cloud resource utilization, availability, and operational efficiency. Deploy, optimize, and maintain AI/ML workflows and technology stacks across ground and orbital environments. Oversee configuration control and lifecycle management of cloud‑related hardware and software. Provide technical leadership to engineering teams implementing integrated cloud solutions spanning terrestrial and space‑based systems. Collaborate with program management to plan, schedule, and execute cloud development, integration, and test activities. Architect and deploy an extensible, automated problem‑reporting and issue‑tracking system that supports secure collaboration with cloud service providers and technology partners. Partner closely with cloud vendors and technology partners to ensure seamless integration, testing, and ongoing support of cloud services. Ensure Sustainability, Security, and Resilience of Axiom's Cloud Ecosystem Establish and manage strategic relationships with third‑party cloud providers to ensure alignment with Axiom's technical, operational, and security requirements. Support the ODC team in structuring and negotiating customer engagements involving cloud infrastructure, including partnerships with external providers. Advise product teams on developing cloud capabilities for mission‑critical operations and shared infrastructure supporting revenue‑generating services. Implement and maintain configuration management, quality assurance, access control, and cybersecurity frameworks across all cloud environments. Lead the Evolution of Cloud Capabilities for Ground and On‑Orbit Operations Identify, evaluate, and communicate emerging cloud technologies and capabilities across the organization. Align Axiom's cloud strategy and infrastructure roadmap with broader business, mission, and technology objectives. Lead the design and deployment of cloud infrastructure upgrades to support evolving mission and customer needs. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on cloud priorities, risks, opportunities, and strategic direction. Investigate advanced cloud hardware and software technologies to drive innovation across Axiom's ground and orbital systems. Serve as an ambassador for Axiom's ODC capabilities within the space industry and cloud technology ecosystems. Present findings and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Systematically document progress, capture knowledge, and maintain an engineering notebook. Perform other duties as assigned.
