About the role

The Supply Chain Lead is a hands-on operator embedded within Mechanism's portfolio companies, owning end-to-end supply chain management for fast-growing DTC e-commerce brands. You are not joining a single company. You are joining a venture studio that builds companies from scratch-and you will be the person who makes sure products get manufactured, shipped, and delivered efficiently as those companies scale. Your first assignment will be a high-growth home cleaning brand that has already sold over one million units. From there, you will extend your supply chain expertise across additional portfolio companies as they launch and grow. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, you will operate as the supply chain subject matter expert across the portfolio-partnering with fractional CEOs, Operations Engineers, and cross-functional teams to build supply chain systems that compound across companies, not just serve one.

Responsibilities

  • Own supply chain end-to-end for assigned portfolio companies, with cost efficiency and delivery reliability as primary KPIs
  • Build, optimize, and scale inventory management systems-including demand forecasting, purchase order management, and fulfillment logistics-to support rapid growth trajectories
  • Manage 3PL warehouse relationships and last-mile delivery operations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure timely order processing
  • Build and maintain manufacturer relationships , coordinating production schedules, quality standards, and lead times-including manufacturers based in China and the USA
  • Lead new SKU launches end-to-end from a supply chain perspective-including product sourcing, packaging design and strategy, costing analysis, and production feasibility
  • Drive margin improvement through packaging optimization, vendor negotiation, and cost-saving initiatives across the entire supply chain from manufacturing to final delivery
  • Coordinate Amazon supply chain operations , including backend inventory management, packaging compliance, and troubleshooting with Amazon and agency partners
  • Evaluate new channel feasibility , including wholesale opportunities, and provide strategic recommendations on operational readiness
  • Leverage data to monitor, measure, and report on key supply chain metrics-generating insights and actionable recommendations to drive decision-making
  • Design reusable systems and playbooks so supply chain infrastructure compounds across the portfolio rather than being rebuilt from scratch for each company
  • Leverage AI, automation, and modern tooling to increase speed, accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product development, customer support, and Operations Engineering teams to ensure seamless execution

Requirements

  • Self-Governing & Hungry: You don't wait to be told what to do. You identify the highest-impact work, put yourself on it, and drive it to completion. You are energized by ownership and motivated to make a visible impact.
  • Customer-Obsessed: You prioritize delivering an unparalleled customer experience through reliable, fast, and cost-effective fulfillment.
  • Strategic & Systems-Oriented: You don't just execute tasks-you build systems. You think in terms of repeatable infrastructure, not one-off fixes.
  • Resilient Problem-Solver: Roadblocks don't deter you; they propel you to find creative solutions. You are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information.
  • Data-Driven: You have a strong analytical mindset and prioritize data-driven insights over intuition. You believe measurement is the foundation of improvement.
  • Highly Communicative: You share progress proactively, flag blockers early, and confirm assumptions before investing significant time. You write clearly and concisely.
  • Collaborative but Independent: Working across teams energizes you, but you don't need constant direction. You leverage collective strengths while maintaining high autonomy.
  • Relentlessly Resourceful: You leverage AI, automation, and your broader team to multiply your effectiveness-not just work harder.
  • 5-7 years of experience in supply chain operations within DTC e-commerce, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment
  • Hands-on experience sourcing and managing production with manufacturers in China and the USA
  • Proven experi
