Job Description 1. Job Overview Finishing Assistant will be tasked with the safe and efficient packing and labelling of Finished pouches and rolls, supplying all material to keep Finishing equipment operating at AF-Asheville. Their main focuses will be the safety of themselves and their co-workers and helping to produce quality product in a timely manner. They will also learn the operation of Finishing Equipment and learn and apply all safety, quality and production procedures. They will perform packing from the slitting machines and aid in testing and paperwork requirements. They will work with co-workers in and out of their department to improve safety, quality and production at the facility. 2. Job Dimensions Support Operations in the Finishing Department Part of the AF Asheville Operations Team No direct reports 3. Principal Accountabilities To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all safety, quality, and production standards and procedures at AF-Asheville Possess good verbal and written communication skills Learn and apply understanding of current operating standards and practices Willing to learn and apply new skills Understands and completes all paperwork related to slitting operations Labels and palletizes finished rolls to customer requirement Will acquire and stock all necessary operating supplies and materials for the Finishing equipment Will assist Slitting operator with set ups, paperwork and operation of equipment Will train under Slitting operator, Team Lead and Supervisor to learn safe, efficient operation of Finishing equipment and safety, quality and operation processes Will learn and apply knowledge of Quality standards and procedures. Will learn to identify quality defects Will learn and apply knowledge of Work Order specifications Completes tasks and helps produce quality product in a timely manner Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives Works with co-workers and management in a positive and constructive manner Maintain housekeeping standards of work area Perform packing and material handling tasks as required Other duties as assigned 4. Major challenges & complexities Managing time and effort to safely meet the demands for quality product Working with co-workers in their own and other departments to make our company successful 5. Qualifications/Requirements 6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience Knowledge and Experience 1 year working in a manufacturing environment preferred Education and Certifications High School Diploma or equivalent 6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours Job Specific skills and abilities Basic computer skills Must be able to flex hours in order to support multi-shift operation Ability to stay on task and follow instruction Basic measurement, math, communication, reading and writing skills Ability to understand and apply all Amcor safety, quality and production standards Ability to stand, walk, and lift continuously for up to 12 hours Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs without assistance Ability and willingness to drive forklift Must prioritize safety, above all else Our Expectations We expect our people to be guided by The Amcor Way and demonstrate our Values every day to enable the business to win.
