Job Summary The Mammography Technologist performs total breast imaging which will result in the production of quality images for diagnostic interpretation. Effectively utilizes all imaging capabilities of the mammographic equipment. Provide patient care essential to breast imaging. Recognize patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures. Job responsiblities Assists in the optimization of patient flow. Provides practical instruction for radiology and ultrasound students rotating in the modality. Assists radiologist with performing image guided diagnostic and invasive procedures. Performs and documents equipment QC according to department protocol; recognizes and reports any malfunction or variation to the area manager, maintenance, or engineering. Records all patient, procedure, history, and film information. Maintains manual and computerized patient, department, and hospital records. Applies knowledge and principles of universal precautions and sterile techniques to minimize exposure to spread of infectious organisms. Applies knowledge of radiation protection to achieve radiation exposures. Performs and documents patient assessment and history related to procedures. Performs other job related duties as assigned. Performs mammography and other breast imaging procedures with sufficient resolution and penetration, including the area of interest, in accordance with physician orders.
