About the role

We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Procurement Buyer to join our growing team, supporting procurement across our manufacturing sites in Crediton, Devon and Birdham, West Sussex . This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring our factories have the right materials, at the right time, and at the right cost. You'll work closely with Production, Planning, Technical, New Product Development, Finance and Senior Management to keep our supply chain running smoothly while identifying opportunities to improve performance, reduce costs and build strong supplier partnerships. Responsibilities

• As Procurement Buyer, you'll be responsible for:
• Managing the procurement of raw materials, packaging and operational supplies across both manufacturing sites.
• Ensuring continuity of supply while delivering cost-effective purchasing solutions.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
• Negotiating pricing, contracts and service levels to deliver best value for the business.
• Working closely with Planning to maintain lean stock levels while ensuring materials are available on time and in full.
• Identifying and delivering cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and supplier negotiations.
• Managing purchase orders, replenishment and supplier schedules to support production requirements.
• Resolving supply issues quickly and effectively to minimise operational disruption.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records and full traceability using Sage 200 and associated systems.
• Supporting supplier approval processes and ensuring documentation is maintained for audit compliance.
• Assisting New Product Development projects by sourcing materials and coordinating procurement activities.
• Producing procurement KPI reports and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• About You
• You'll be an organised, commercially aware procurement professional who enjoys working collaboratively and building strong supplier relationships.
• You'll have:
• Previous experience in a purchasing, buying or procurement role.
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Commercial awareness and experience managing costs and supplier performance.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience using Sage 200 or a similar ERP system.
• It would be great if you also have:
• Experience within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of supplier approval processes, auditing requirements or quality management systems.
