Job Description: The Research Assistant will support research on the history of Nigerian education. This will include searching the archives, gathering material, conducting literature reviews, synthesizing archival findings, drafting articles and chapters, editing and crosschecking references, and providing overall research support. Thismay include the development of research proposals. The position may include travel to archives and libraries. This is a summer-only position, and the contract will not be extended. The RA must have a keen interest in Black and African studies, the politics of education, and education policy studies, including knowledge of the decolonization of education in the international context. The candidate for this position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as reflected in the weekly expected outputs. Qualifications Required (skills and abilities, education, language skills): Education/experience requirements: Enrolled in a graduate program in Education or related fields. Previous experience as a research assistant is required. Additional qualifying skills and abilities: Strong writing, analytical, communication, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail. Immediate Supervisor: Dr. Rhoda Nanre Nafziger Schedule/hours : 5-10 hours per week, with a maximum total of 100 hours. Hourly rate : $32.10/hr This position is covered by the Association of McGill University Research Employees (AMURE) collective agreement.
