- Physical Therapists working with Pediatric Population:
- Physical Therapy provides pediatric assessment, treatment, and family/staff consultation and education services. Patients referred for Physical Therapy by a physician will receive an evaluation that is appropriate to age, medical diagnosis, and family concerns. A treatment plan is developed from the evaluation findings. Age specific Physical therapy intervention is provided as defined by the individualized treatment plan.
- Physical Therapy is part of the multidisciplinary pediatric team. Team members will actively involve the family and/or primary care giver when establishing goals from initial assessment, through the course of treatment and in discharge planning. A Physical therapy representative will participate in team meetings regarding pediatric patients who are receiving Physical therapy intervention.
- In collaboration with the pediatric department clinical nurse specialist and/or nurse educator, the physical therapist will provide education and consultation for pediatric staff development regarding PT related topics pertinent to overall patient care.
- Physical Therapy collaborates with other providers to facilitate the continuum of care.
- Physical Therapy is performed by Physical therapists (PT) and Physical therapist assistants (PTA) that are licensed by the state of California. There is at least one Physical therapist that is CCS-paneled on the hospital staff.
