Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must meet the Basic Requirement (1 or 2): Basic Requirements: Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Applicants must meet at least three (3) of the four (4) areas listed below: Specialized experience is defined as experience: Analyzing data to support decision making and performance management; Designing, developing, maintaining, or optimizing data pipelines and integrating data using tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar technologies; Developing dashboards , reports, or advanced data visualizations using tools such as Power BI to communicate actionable insights to leadership and stakeholders; or Implementing or supporting data governance practices, data quality standards, and processes to ensure the integrity, reliability, and usability of organizational data.
