Building Monitor

Responsibilities

• Serve as a security guard presence as needed, conducting foot and vehicle patrols, monitoring checkpoints, and securing buildings, gates, and restricted areas.
• Coordinate closely and regularly with the Facility Supervisor on daily operations, incident response, and security procedures.
• Act as the first point of contact, delivering professional customer service to employees, visitors, VIPs, and during special events.
• Monitor and control access points, including screening visitors, managing pedestrian and vehicle traffic, and maintaining access control systems.
• Respond to emergencies independently or as part of a team, supporting incident management and ensuring proper reporting.
• Maintain security systems and equipment, including CCTV, surveillance systems, radios, and safety/fire protection equipment inspections for proper operation.
• Complete required documentation and administrative tasks, including reports, staff scheduling, guard tour logs, and adherence to SOPs and university policies.
• Required Qualifications
• High school diploma
• 2 years of experience in a security technical support
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Requirements

• Associate's degree
• Certificate in Criminal Justice
• Driving Required
• Salary Range
• $36,500 + depending on qualifications
• Working Conditions
• Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
• Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds regularly/occasionally
• Must be able to respond quickly to suspicious sounds.
• Must be able to see and respond to emergency situations.
• Must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
• Exposure to variable weather conditions including but not limited to: rain, cold , and extreme heat.
• Work Shift
• Shift work as required with advance notice, with varying days off, occasional weekends, and overtime.
