Senior Front Office Engineer Short-Term Power Markets- Leading Global Energy Commodities Trading

Requirements

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in Python
• Experience with modern frameworks, APIs, and cloud-native architecture
• 5 years' supporting Intraday Short-Term Power trading (or similar real-time energy market environment)
• Strong foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Proficiency in SQL and relational database technologies
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, including Docker and cloud-native deployments
• Experience in Linux and Windows environments
• Desirable
• Exposure to AWS & Snowflake technologies
• Familiarity with fundamental and weather datasets, as well as market data sources such as EPEX, ENTSO-E, or Nord Pool.

Now looking for highly experienced Python engineers who can sit at the intersection of technology and trading to join the Data Science & Technology team in London. This team is pivotal in giving the firm a competitive edge, and the initial scope of this role will focus on short-term power initiatives, building tools and systems that directly enable the front office to test and execute strategies efficiently in fast-moving markets. To do this, you'll design, develop and maintain real-time trading applications, analytics platforms, and data pipelines critical to decision-making and strategy deployment for the European Intraday Power desk. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced, data-driven trading environment, making a direct impact on systematic trading and risk management efforts.
