Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to aerospace ground equipment and the operation of AC/DC generator power systems. 2. Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel, gasoline engines and gas turbine compressors. 3. Knowledge of USAF Technical Order Program and its procedures as well as regulations, procedures, and policies related to maintenance records, documentation, safety and security requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and policy statements. 4. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using complex wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides. Skill in troubleshooting complex and integrated electronic, hydraulic, HVAC, pneumatic, mechanical systems and sub systems comprising an entire integrated system. 5. Skill in using hand and power tools, instruments, test equipment, electrical meters and special tools. Skill in installing, operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and modifying generators, automatic transfer switches, and uninterruptible power systems; and in maintaining, overhauling, repairing, and reconditioning internal combustion engines, diesel, gasoline and gas turbine compressors. 6. Ability to apply shop procedures, policies, written and oral instructions, and directives sufficient to provide training to others. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. Other significant facts pertaining to this position are: May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments. Must obtain and retain the appropriate security level designated for the position. 2. Prepare equipment/cargo for shipment This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. May be required to instruct lower grade testers in inspection procedures. 3. May be required to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime to meet workload demands. May be required to work off-shifts, i.e. first, second, third shifts in support of 24/7 operations. 4. Must have a valid state driver's license. 5. Performs other duties as assigned. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. 6. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: May work inside or outside. Inside work involves frequent exposure to drafts, changing temperature, and loud noise. Outside work may involve exposure to bad weather, rain or snow, or wet or icy conditions. Both inside and outside, frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or surfaces. May work on parts and systems which are dirty and greasy and which may be dangerous to operate or repair because of defects.
