- Helps develops and implements safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction regarding hazards unique to any job assignment; provides or organizes outside resources for training for new and existing employees.
- Assists Safety Manager in developing monthly "tailgate" safety trainings for installation, warehouse, aerial and underground construction crews. Also assists in sending out weather alerts.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations and web sites; maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations; distributes and/or posts new or revised safety standards that affect the company .
- Helps coordinate with other departments on design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Identifies job site hazards and takes effective preventive actions and controls.
- Maintains field safety records for statistical measurement and conformance to standard practices of the safety industry.
- Prepares and maintains field safety reports.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints; evaluate problems and take appropriate action to resolve issues/concerns.
- Helps coordinate, support, and develop site trainers in their roles of providing safety trainings.
- Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years related experience; bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred
- Knowledge of Telecommunications industry
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance standards
- Ability to drive a motor vehicle; valid California driver's license and clean driving record Proficient on Microsoft Office products

POSITION TITLE: Safety Specialist DEPARTMENT: Fleet/Safety REPORTS TO: Safety Manager FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Non-Exempt Compensation 55-70k Annually Position Summary: The Safety Specialist coordinates company-wide safety activities and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all employees; develops and implement accident prevention programs in accordance with OSHA standards and mitigates organizational risk. Travel: (Travel to LA on a cadence) Bay Area travel (East Bay/South Bay) is expected for this position.
