OEPR's work focuses on promoting and protecting public health through emergency preparedness and response; and recognizes that social inequities negatively impact our efforts to maintain and improve the health of NYC during and after a disaster. With these inequities in mind, OEPR is also working to improve its application of a social justice and racial equity lens to its emergency preparedness and response work. OEPR's employees are expected to align their work with OEPR's efforts to combat the harmful effects of systemic injustices on communities and work towards the most equitable post-disaster public health outcomes possible. Duties will include but not be limited to: - Perform data analysis to support preparedness and response capabilities for the NYC Health Care Coalition (NYCHCC) and overall healthcare sector including as required by the Administration of Strategic Preparedness & Response (ASPR) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP) and other identified needs. - Leverage coding languages and Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the context of epidemiological principles to support BHCR programs - Develop data visualization products that help inform key stakeholders and decision makers in support of the HSR unit and agencywide initiatives (e.g., dashboards, maps, reports) - Support the development and dissemination of the annual HPP-required Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (HVA) - Conduct research on trends within the public health and emergency preparedness fields and support the development of actionable reports for agency stakeholders - Serve as the primary data analyst for the Healthcare Systems Supports Branch (HSSB) when activated for public health emergencies - Provide technical support for cross-bureau and divisional endeavors (exercises, conferences, webinars) PREFERRED SKILLS: - Understanding of public health and emergency preparedness and response protocols including Incident Command System (ICS) - Demonstrated ability to move multiple projects forward and effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines - Self-starter who can identity and tackle new projects and manage projects independently - Proficiency in presentation and design tools (Adobe, Canva, Prezi) - Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS) and data visualization tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Power BI, and Tableau - Willingness to learn new tools and technologies Why you should work for us: - Loan Forgiveness: As a prospective employee of the City of New York, you may be eligible for federal/state loan forgiveness and repayment assistance programs that lessen your payments or even fully forgive your full balance.
