Job Summary: The Director of EHS provides executive-level leadership for the company's environmental, health, and safety function across all field service operations, project sites, and corporate activities. This role is accountable for the strategic direction, implementation, and performance of EHS programs company-wide - ensuring regulatory compliance, reducing risk, and embedding a durable safety culture into every level of the organization. The Director partners directly with the CEO, SVP, and regional leadership to align EHS strategy with business objectives. They lead a team of EHS Managers and field specialists, oversee subcontractor EHS performance, and serve as the organization's primary representative in regulatory, client, and executive safety matters. Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises EHS Managers, Field EHS Specialists, and EHS Coordinator(s). Builds and leads a high-performing EHS team across geographically dispersed operations; drives hiring, development, and succession planning. Holds subcontractor leadership accountable for field safety performance. Duties/Responsibilities: Strategic EHS Leadership Develop, own, and execute the company-wide EHS strategic plan - setting multi-year goals, KPIs, and program roadmaps aligned with business growth and risk tolerance. Advise the executive team and board on EHS risk, regulatory landscape changes, and program performance; present quarterly metrics and trend analysis. Build and lead a high-performing EHS team including EHS Managers, field specialists, and coordinators; drive hiring, development, and succession planning. Establish EHS as a strategic business differentiator - supporting business development, client retention, and proposal efforts with demonstrable safety performance. Own the EHS operating budget; allocate resources across projects, training, technology, and compliance programs. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management Maintain enterprise-wide compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations including OSHA (29 CFR 1910 & 1926), EPA, DOT, and client-specific requirements. Oversee the company's OSHA recordkeeping program, regulatory reporting obligations, and agency interaction strategy. Lead response to regulatory inspections, citations, and enforcement actions; manage legal counsel relationships on EHS matters. Implement enterprise risk assessment frameworks to identify, prioritize, and mitigate EHS risks across field operations.
