About the role

Workday's high-performance Global Commercial Operations (GCO) organization steers us toward our goal of growing to $10B and beyond in revenue. The Commercial Insights & Analytics group is a key player in fueling this growth by providing thought leadership and unique insights for driving our overall business. As a Senior Analyst on the Strategic Analytics team, you will serve as a high-impact thought leader, demonstrating an advanced aptitude for driving organizational action through sophisticated recommendations underpinned by data. You will own the analytical strategy for the full customer lifecycle, bridging the gap between New Business acquisition and Customer Base/Renewals. By connecting top-of-funnel activities to long-term retention and expansion metrics, you will provide the holistic insights necessary for data-driven decision-making across cross-functional Go-To-Market (GTM) and Commercial stakeholders. In this senior-level capacity, you will partner with executive leaders on large-scale strategic projects, proactively uncovering whitespace opportunities and guiding internal teams on how to leverage data for future growth. Because our team supports pivotal, evolving initiatives, you must be comfortable navigating ambiguity; the scope of your impact is broad and adaptive, requiring you to pivot between deep-dive funnel analysis and emerging strategic priorities as the business scales. Our key partners include Sales and Marketing leadership, Customer Success & Renewals, Global Demand Management, Sales Strategy & Operations, and Business Intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Insight Architecture: Develop structured, actionable frameworks for business consumption, moving beyond simple reporting to create scalable analytical assets.
  • Agile Problem Solving: Lead the execution of complex ad-hoc requests from cross-functional partners, translating shifting business needs into immediate, data-backed solutions.
  • Executive Storytelling: Visually represent data through curated, high-level storytelling that distills complex variables into clear business decisions for senior leadership.
  • Lifecycle Connectivity: Find the "so what" in our data by connecting pre-sales activities to post-sales outcomes, identifying drivers for both acquisition and net revenue retention (NRR).
  • Strategic Hypothesis Building: Take vague or evolving business questions and work cross-functionally to design data-driven hypotheses and actionable recommendations that drive systemic change.
  • Proactive Advisory: Independently conduct strategic analysis based on your own assessment of business trends, engaging stakeholders on how to proactively address risks or capitalize on opportunities.
  • About You
  • Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • 7+ years GTM Revenue/Sales Analyst or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in an analytics-focused role, with a track record of driving measurable business impact.
  • 4+ years of experience performing business analytics to identify actionable insights across the customer journey.
  • 4+ years of experience using SQL to query, manipulate, and optimize complex data sets.
  • Other (Preferred) Qualifications
  • SaaS Expertise: Deep experience within the B2B SaaS industry, particularly regarding the interplay between New Business (ACV/pipeline) and Customer Base (Renewals/Expansion).
  • Operational Depth: Experience supporting Sales, Marketing, or Customer Success Operations through advanced data modeling and forecasting.
  • Technical Mastery: Expert-level proficiency with Salesforce and modern data visualization tools (e.g., Sigma, Power BI, or Tableau); proficiency in Python for advanced data manipulation or automation is preferred.
  • Strategic Diplomacy: Demonstrated ability in senior stakeholder management, including the ability to influence
