About the role

This vacancy is for a GS-0802-12, Engineering Technician located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OPERATING LOCATION-SFLC PB SYSTEMS and EQUIP SEC-NORFOLK VA in NORFOLK, Virginia. To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Developing or reviewing technical repair specifications, Statements of Work (SOW), Independent Government Estimates (IGEs), and maintenance planning documentation (e.g. technical reports, fact sheets, status reports, schedules) related to major ship repair projects. Supporting projects related to the installation, modification, and retrofitting of shipboard equipment. Participating in material condition surveys and inspections to determine the actual condition of a ship's hull, machinery, and electrical components. Providing technical support for marine systems and equipment. Collaborating with engineering, logistics, and contracting stakeholders to support vessel repair method compliance with government and industry standards.
