Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Why this Role is Important Reporting to the Manager, Library & Testing Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for cataloguing, metadata, and information management for both print and eResources. The Metadata and Cataloging Specialist will collaborate closely with colleagues and internal stakeholders to ensure that all collections are accessible to students, faculty, and staff in alignment with professional best practices and bibliographic and technical standards. How You'll Make an Impact Cataloging & Metadata Performs physical cataloguing functions such as locating and processing material for all campus locations, ensuring accuracy and editing as required and maintains all cataloguing supplies Catalogues eBooks and other digital resources, as required, including editing eResource-related records Implementation and monitoring of functional requirements for bibliographic records (FRBR) configuration/deduplication and/or suppression rules Manages and configures metadata for access to print and digital collections in the integrated library system and discovery service, and manages the sharing of such data with external partners and systems Develops, implements, and monitors, evaluates, and improves plans for supporting an informed and responsive cataloguing and discovery strategy through guidelines, best practices, infrastructure, and resource development in consultation with the Systems Specialist and Librarians Performs ongoing collection maintenance for weeding, missing items, and discards in consultation with the Librarians and Systems Specialist Maintains and creates course reserves on a semesterly basis Acts as College Libraries Ontario (CLO) main point of contact for all metadata and cataloguing projects and creates and maintains templates based on standard required for the integrated library system Archival Support Supports a variety of archival activities which may include but are not limited to: Digitization and inventorying Transference of obsolete media Discarding (duplicates / items rejected from collection) Working within the institutional repository on applying metadata standards to support archival objects Library Learning Commons Support Provides assistance to students at the LLC desk using the resources available (online and in-print) Guides students in the process of developing research skills and strategies and evaluating search result Guides students in finding relevant information to support their academic needs outside of the classroom by connecting them to relevant College-wide services Performs other related duties as assigned
