DISCLAIMER This is a hands-on industrial lab role in an aerospace maintenance and repair facility-not a medical or clinical laboratory position. You will regularly move between the lab and the manufacturing floor, working with chemicals, metals, machining equipment, tanks and protective gear (including Tychem suits under certain conditions) which may require a change of clothes thereafter. JOB SUMMARY The Lab Technician performs chemical and metallurgical laboratory tests to validate and control various shop processes. This position will conduct a variety of monitoring and testing duties in support of multiple departments that repair turbine engine components used primarily in the aerospace industry. Responsibilities may include wet chemistry testing of process solutions, metallurgical testing, and the evaluation of various metallic specimens. The Lab Technician additionally monitors and performs preventative maintenance and adjustments to laboratory test equipment and further monitors and ensures regulatory requirements are followed. Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position. Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures. 2. Analytical testing of chemical tanks includes the collection of samples, performing titrations, maintaining lab records, and performing math calculations. 3. Maintain chemical tanks, including cleaning of tanks, preparing new solutions, and performing chemical additions as may require. 4. Perform metallurgical prep, microscopic evaluation and mechanical testing of thermal spray coatings and other metallic structures. 5. Prepare and label chemical etchants & reagents for various departments throughout the facility. 6. Responsible for storage of chemical waste containers and incoming chemicals. Must adhere to the safety and regulatory requirements regarding the use and storage of chemicals. 7. Manage and maintain chemical inventory via online database system. 8. Properly label chemical waste containers following RCRA regulatory standards. 9. Frequently move chemical containers (up to 50lbs) and pallets containing 55-gallon drums using the following equipment: pallet jack, forklifts, cranes, hoists, carts, or other handling methods. 10. Responsible for daily maintenance and general housekeeping of lab equipment and glassware. 11. Machine reusable test coupons by using a manual lathe machine. 12. Perform engineering tasks associated with repair processes as assigned. 13. Communicate with all employees as a member of the organizational team. 14. Assist in the training of personnel from time to time. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Associate degree (or higher) in Chemistry/Metallurgy or any other scientific field of study or two years equivalent work experience. 2. Knowledge of laboratory safety and/or previous experience in a manufacturing environment. Some prior experience with testing chemicals, via laboratory techniques preferred. 3. Ability or experience following directions and reading work instructions with an associated experience in problem solving and decision making. 4. Familiarity with governmental regulatio
