The role is driving supplier performance, material alignment, and inventory optimization while ensuring compliance with nuclear, HSE, and organizational standards. By strengthening sourcing operations and improving visibility across the supply chain, the specialist is enabling on‑time delivery and operational excellence. As a Lead Sourcing Specialist - Buying/Procurement, you will be responsible for: Managing master planning, material processes, and systems for the industrial valve site in Houston, Texas Preparing and updating production schedules based on purchasing needs and operational requirements Driving process improvements to enhance visibility of material availability across product lines Ensuring material alignment with production plans and KPIs through coordination with materials teams and suppliers Optimizing inventory levels and improving processes related to inbound shipments from external suppliers Exchanging data and information regarding product, process, and procedural improvements with cross‑functional teams Handling standardized manufacturing processes and implementing updated procedures from other functions Obtaining nuclear purchasing certifications and managing external operations in accordance with nuclear guidelines Driving improvements in manufacturing on‑time delivery through effective material alignment Tracking and maintaining visibility of short‑cycle purchase orders Placing, reviewing, and managing purchasing activities for materials from internal and external suppliers Managing supplier performance, metrics, and accountability Working with the quality team to resolve nonconformance and return‑to‑vendor discrepancies Attending daily warehouse and virtual meetings with cross‑functional and global teams Completing and maintaining all HSE and compliance training in accordance with Baker Hughes policies Completing all electronic and in‑person learning requirements as per company guidelines Managing the external supplier network from purchase order placement to invoice reconciliation To be successful in this role you will: Have a bachelor's degree (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of manufacturing experience) Have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Materials Planning & Execution and/or sourcing and procurement Have strong oral and written communication skills Have strong interpersonal and leadership capabilities Have an ability to influence others and lead small teams Have experience leading initiatives of moderate scope and impact Have an ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously Have strong problem‑identification and solution‑development skills Have proven analytical and organizational abilities Work in a way that works for you We recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people work best varies.
