About the role

The School of Rural Health (SRH) has been delivering long term rural placements for The University of Sydney year 3 and 4 medical students in Orange and Dubbo for over 20 years. In 2022, The University of Sydney commenced delivery of its four-year graduate entry Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program in two streams; a Metropolitan stream based on the University's Camperdown campus in Sydney, and a Dubbo stream based at the School of Rural Health in Dubbo. We have a position available for a part-time Marketing and Communications Officer who will undertake a range of duties to support and build marketing and communications capacity for the School of Rural Health (Dubbo/Orange). The role will report to the Marketing and Communications Manager based in Dubbo. Employment as Funding Contingent Continuing Employments means employment under a contract that is ongoing, subject to the continuing need and sufficient funding for the staff member's position. The Faculty of Medicine and Health is the largest faculty in the University and contains seven academic schools https://www.sydney.edu.au/medicine-health/ Sydney Medical School is one of these and includes both metropolitan and rural Clinical Schools https://www.sydney.edu.au/medicine-health/schools/sydney-medical-school.html, including the School of Rural Health (Dubbo/Orange). The location of this position is in Orange, New South Wales. Regular travel between Orange and Dubbo is a requirement of this position. Occasional out of hours work may be required of this role. Your key responsibilities will be to: coordinate and produce content across multiple channels, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and work area objectives participate in planning, evaluation and quality improvement of marketing and communication activities take the lead in handling internal and external stakeholder communications, ensuring that concerns are addressed effectively and timely while fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within the work area and beyond facilitate timely report submission, uphold data integrity according to university systems, and partner with managers to advance compliance initiatives coordinate purchasing processes and resolve any discrepancies in payment schedules champion a proactive approach to health and safety in the portfolio area under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager, provide a consultative role in relation to events management identify relevant channels for external publicity and work closely with the media and other administrative units to promote university achievements, news, and events. About you Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (Communications, Marketing, Media, or similar.) an equivalent combination of training and minimum 5 years' industry experience in Marketing, Communications and Events Management demonstrated ability to develop high-quality publications, marketing and web materials using a range of computer applications including desktop publishing, design, web and media editing software including the Adobe Design suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) strong skills in developing digital and social media content and demonstrated ability to stay current with emerging trends, tools and best practice excellent project management skills and the ability to work to deadlines across a number of projects simultaneously demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with internal staff and with external agencies to support the development and implementation of publicity activities demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team including ability to adapt to a changing and evolving workplace well-developed analytical, critical thinking and reporting skills, including the ability to capture, interpret, present and modify the relevant information to suit the needs and is of value to a variety of audience proven flexibility and
