A Banquet Captain is a key leader with the Statler Hotel's Meetings & Events Team. The primary function of a Banquet Captain is to provide event coordination and support, performing set up and breakdown of events, event execution and service delivery, ensuring safety and sanitation standards are met, responsible service of beverages, and proper cash handling procedures are followed. Will also be responsible for assisting with pre-event planning and post-event documentation. Will assist with the training and supervision of student and professional staff. Will assist in other areas of hotel as needed. Required Qualifications: Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion , and wellbeing. Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. High school diploma and at least three years of experience in a catering or food service industry Highly motivated, dynamic individual with a professional demeanor and superior customer service skills, indicative of a AAA rated Four Diamond hotel. Must have the potential to develop effective leadership and supervisory skills and style and must have the ability to assist with the training, coaching and mentoring of college students in an experiential learning environment. Must have good written and verbal communication skills and have a solid grasp of computer skills, ideally with proficiency in hotel information systems and Microsoft Office applications. Capable of being on feet for long periods of time and walking up and down stairs. Able to carry dishes and trays weighing up to 30lbs and able to lift and transport tables and chairs weighing over 50lbs. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
