About the role

We are hiring a Cloud Platform Engineer to join a high‑performing engineering team supporting a large‑scale, internal-developed platform used by hundreds of engineers. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and developer experience, and is part of a long‑term cloud modernisation and platform‑enablement journey. This role is best suited for someone who started their career as a backend/software engineer and has since transitioned into DevOps, cloud, or platform engineering, with a strong focus on enabling engineers rather than only running infrastructure. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will sit close to application teams and act as a force multiplier for engineering productivity. Your mission is to design and build shared platforms, deployment patterns, and automation that allow engineers to focus on delivering business features instead of wrestling with infrastructure, environments, or release processes. You'll combine strong software engineering fundamentals with hands‑on cloud and DevOps experience to create opinionated but flexible platforms. Success in this role means other engineers can move faster, deploy more safely, and troubleshoot production issues with confidence, without needing deep platform expertise themselves. This is not a traditional operation or support role. You are expected to think in systems, improve developer workflows end‑to‑end, and continuously raise the baseline for how software is built and run across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Build, operate, and improve an internal AWS-based cloud platform used across multiple engineering teams
  • Partner closely with backend and application engineers to understand workflows and remove friction from development and deployment
  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform primarily)
  • Work hands-on with containerised platforms using Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and Helm
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or similar)
  • Implement observability across the platform using tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, and/or Splunk
  • Support platform scalability, reliability, and performance; troubleshoot complex cloud and pipeline issues
  • Contribute to cloud migration initiatives and drive adoption of platform standards and best practices
  • Must‑Have Experience
  • Strong software engineering foundation (5 to 8 years) using languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or .NET
  • 2 to 4 years of hands‑on AWS experience, ideally working with services such as EKS, EC2, IAM, S3, VPC, Lambda
  • Real‑world experience with:
  • o Docker & Kubernetes
  • o Terraform or CloudFormation
  • CI/CD experience with modern tooling (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of logging, monitoring, and observability in cloud environments
  • Comfortable collaborating across teams and explaining platform decisions to non‑platform engineers
  • We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified / contacted.
