This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to the lives of tenants living in private rented housing. The successful applicant will join the Counter Fraud and Enforcement Unit (CFEU) which works across Gloucestershire Local Authorities. The CFEU provides services to several councils in relation to fraud risk, investigation and criminal enforcement. The Investigation and Enforcement Officers within the team assist the regulatory teams in investigation and prosecutions of offences within the councils' jurisdiction. This role will have a specific focus on assessing and investigating potential breaches and offences by landlords in relation to private rented accommodation legislation under the Renters Rights Act 2025, using enhanced powers to deal with illegal eviction and harassment, rental bidding, discrimination in renting, tenancy agreements and property possession amongst others. You will be employed by Cotswold District Council however the CFEU is a shared service and you will be working on behalf of three of the partner Councils - Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Borough Councils and Stroud District Council. You will work closely with officers in the Private Sector Housing teams of each respective council. You will be required to support the CFEU in achieving their aims, with a strong focus on assisting each individual council to meet new statutory duties and responsibilities under the Renters Rights Act 2025. The team work in an agile manner, working from home and from all of the offices sited across the partnership. The CFEU have offices within council buildings in Cheltenham, Cirencester, Coleford, Stroud, and Tewkesbury and you will be based at your nearest location but be expected to travel. You will need...
