This is a temporary summer position within the Operating Engineers union with an expected duration of 6-8 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with sampling, testing, and monitoring asphalt and aggregate materials across plants, labs, and job sites to support quality standards
  • Record, organize, and communicate test results and observations to support production and quality control decisions
  • Support equipment checks, calibrations, and basic maintenance to ensure accurate and reliable testing
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory, equipment, and sampling areas
  • Collaborate with team members and follow all safety, quality, and site procedures while supporting additional assigned tasks
  • What Are We Looking For
  • Interest in asphalt production, aggregates, materials testing, or quality control, with a willingness to learn and grow in the field
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately record information and follow established procedures
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with clear and professional communication skills
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Flexible and dependable, with the ability to adapt to varying schedules; a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered assets

  • Work Environment
  • This role involves laboratory, plant, and field work, including exposure to operating equipment, vehicle traffic, noise, dust, heat, and varying weather conditions, and requires standing, walking, climbing, and lifting
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment and safety training will be provided.
