Offers direct services, either directly or indirectly, to all participants in the Primary Care Clinic SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of a health care team, provide personal care and assistance within the clinic, which will help to maintain and increase the ability of older participants to live safely at home. Tasks may include: assisting participants with personal care (colostomy care, bathing, peri-care, care of mouth, skin and hair), eating; helping in and out of bed in the center; assistance in toileting (including use of bedpan) and ambulating, taking of vital signs and collection of urine, sputum, etc. Completes tasks within certification including preparing participants to see MD/RN, complete and document blood draws, skin test, placement and reading, administer medication orally, and other tasks within Medical Assistant scope of practice. Communicates data collected, such as vital signs and urine output, to appropriate clinic staff. Works with clinic aide to ensure supplies in the exam rooms and clinic storage are stocked and organized. Works closely with Primary Care Providers to prepare participants for visits. Provides behavioral/emotional supervision or support to participants, such as reality orientation or reminders to follow through on nursing/medical care and diet restrictions. Responsible for keeping clinic areas clean and safe when participants are on site. Regularly reports on status and progress of participants to clinic staff. Fulfills other administrative requirements of the job such as reporting, keeping statistical records and logs, medical records utilizing electronic medical records system, and attending staff conferences and meetings as directed. May participate in the training and orientation of Health Workers, volunteers, etc. Actively participates in and encourages actions that promote good public relations with participants, their families and friends, visitors and the community. Working for a program that provides services six days a week, may be required to work a flexible schedule, including Saturday. Provide back-up administrative assistance if the clinic clerk is absent. All other reasonably related jobs as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a certified Medical Assistant program Interest and willingness to work in a multilingual, multicultural environment. Knowledge of the community served. Current/prior experience in phlebotomy PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift, transfer, push/pull, maneuver, and reposition 35 lbs. Ability to reach, bend and walk Five finger manipulations
