Job Description: Outpatient Nursing Unit Manager (Mews Clinics) Based Onsite - Cromwell Hospital, Kensington, SW5 0TU Full time (37.5 hours) Permanent Salary from £57,035 We make health happen As an Outpatients Nursing Unit Manager (Mews Clinics) at Cromwell Hospital, you'll take on a senior leadership role overseeing the operational and clinical delivery of outpatient services, primarily within the Mews. You'll lead nursing and support teams to ensure clinics run safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of patient care and experience. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, patient-focused environment where your leadership, operational expertise, and commitment to quality will directly shape service performance, patient outcomes, and future service development across outpatient services. How you'll help us make health happen Provide visible, hands-on clinical leadership across Mews clinics, acting as a role model and point of escalation for staff and patients. Lead the day-to-day operational running of outpatient clinics, ensuring clinics start on time, run efficiently, and maximise capacity and utilisation. Manage staffing levels, rota planning, and skill mix in line with service demand, ensuring safe and effective service delivery. Monitor and improve clinic performance metrics, including patient flow, utilisation, and DNA rates. Drive a strong culture of quality, safety, and governance, including incident reporting (Datix), complaints management, and Duty of Candour. Ensure compliance with CQC standards, internal governance frameworks, and hospital policies. Lead and support audits, embedding learning and continuous improvement across the service. Own and improve patient experience, including monitoring and acting on Net Promoter Score (NPS) feedback. Lead, manage, and develop nursing and support staff through coaching, appraisals, and performance management. Work collaboratively with consultants, bookings, operational teams, and multidisciplinary colleagues to optimise clinic delivery and patient pathways. Support service coverage across outpatient areas in partnership with the second Unit Manager, ensuring consistency and continuity of care. Contribute to service improvement, innovation, and transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, patient experience, and service growth. Key Skills / Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) with active NMC registration. Significant experience in outpatient or clinical service management. Proven leadership and team management experience within a clinical setting. Strong operational, organisational, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities. Experience in incident management, complaints handling, audits, and governance processes. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside consultants and multidisciplinary teams. Understanding of clinic performance metrics such as utilisation, patient flow, and service efficiency. Desirable: Experience within private healthcare Experience managing outpatient clinics and consultant activity Non-medical prescriber qualification (NMP) Management qualification or willingness to work towards it
