Job Purpose The Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum (LKCNHM) is Singapore's only natural history museum, located at the National University of Singapore. We are looking for a motivated and hands-on individual who will assist with (1) Curation of the museum's entomological collection, (2) Assist in obtaining of molecular barcodes for insect Biodiversity Discovery, and (3) specimen collection efforts in local and overseas field surveys. Primary Duties: 1. Curation of the museum's entomological collections, involving a. Sorting, Preserving and vouchering of specimens. b. Maintenance of specimens, their containers and preservatives. c. Packing and mailing of specimen loans to other institutions. 2. Supporting Biodiversity discovery work with benchwork for Barcoding. 3. Participating in local and overseas field surveys and specimen collections. Ancillary Duties: 1. Assisting Research visitors and students, and oversee volunteers in collections Maintenance of the Museum's building facilities, and gallery. 2. Other duties as and when assigned. Training has been provided by curators and managers on the methods and safe practices of handling preservatives, specimens and reagents. Additional training will be provided on gallery and facilities maintenance matters.
