Service Workshop Senior Supervisor SUMMARY In a pivotal role within the Specialized European Operations Team, the Service Workshop Senior Supervisor leads the performance of our central service workshop at the European Distribution Centre in 's-Heerenberg. The person in this role is accountable for delivering highest quality across all service flows, from rider-direct ship-to-home bike preparation to advanced reworks, warranty returns, and bike preparation for re-sale. In addition, the workshop provides suspension and wheel servicing supporting all European markets, excluding the UK. Leading a team of technicians, the Supervisor drives consistency, speed, and precision in every bike that leaves the facility, ensuring it meets the expectations of both riders and retailers. Beyond execution, the role actively manages productivity, cost efficiency, and value recovery, positioning the workshop as a critical contributor to both rider experience and commercial performance. HOW YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE - Leading, motivating and developing the workshop team of 9-12 technicians, ensuring the smooth daily running of the workshop while fostering a team culture of openness, curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement. - Leading daily operations across all service streams, from ship-to-home preparation through to reworks, returns, and suspension & wheels service, ensuring clear prioritization, seamless execution, and consistent delivery to quality and compliance standards. - Build an environment where teammates feel empowered, supported, and encouraged to grow their technical and professional capabilities. - Provide coaching, feedback, and development pathways, ensuring all teammates progress in both technical certifications and compliance training - Ensuring rider satisfaction by delivering bikes that meet Specialized (right first time) quality standards on first inspection and arrive at the rider in perfect, safe and ride-ready condition - Owning workshop KPIs - throughput, quality, lead-time, cost-per-bike and team productivity - and reporting performance to European Operations leadership - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce cost per bike, and enhance quality and consistency, identifying bottlenecks and seeking opportunities to reduce waste. - Managing returns inspection and grading, deciding the most appropriate re-sale or scrap route, and preparing refurbished bikes to a saleable standard - Leading rework and recall campaigns, working closely with Quality, Rider Care and Global Product teams to execute changes accurately and on time - Stock accuracy and amendments for workshop spares, consumables and packaging materials Owning workshop standards across organisation, 5S, and Health & Safety, ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-performing working environment aligned with DC and Specialized standards. - Awareness and responsibility for security of the workshop team, tooling and stock - Ensuring workshop teammates are encouraged to further their training for development as well as compliance (technical certifications, safety, manual handling) - Liaising across the European market network and the UK Retail workshop teams to align on service processes and how they should be documented and followed - Partnering with Logistics, Inbound and Outbound DC teams to integrate the workshop into the wider supply chain flow - Pro actively represent the workshop in operational planning, forecasting, and cross functional alignment forums. - Recruitment, on-boarding, scheduling, holiday cover and performance management of the workshop team WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN - Proven leadership experience of a technical / mechanical team, ideally within bicycle service, automotive, e-mobility or a comparable assembly / repair environment - Excellent prioritisation, planning and time management in a high-volume operation - Ability to delegate and relinquish responsibility to others - Effective motivator and people developer - Technically excellent across all manner of bicycle product (mechanical and electric), including suspension and wheel building/servicing - Sound product knowledge and the drive to learn continuously - Empathy towards riders to enable delivery of exceptional customer service - Commercial awareness - understanding of cost, productivity and the revenue impact of workshop output - Knowledge of Health & Safety, manual handling and warehouse / workshop compliance in a Dutch DC environment - Strong numeracy and literacy skills - Clear and effective communicator across multiple cultures and time-zones - I.T. skills to operate in Hubtiger, Oracle EBS or other workshop management systems - Fluent Dutch and English (written and spoken) essential; additional European languages (German, French) an advantage - A completed MBO‑4 education, combined with relevant management training WHAT YOU'LL GET IN RETURN: We truly value the passion and dedication our team brings to Specialized.
