This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality technical support for teaching, research and professional services within the Faculty of Science & Engineering. You will join a dynamic technical operations team, contributing to a sector-leading workshop service and supporting innovative engineering and scientific activity. Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for: Manufacturing precision components and assemblies using conventional and CNC machine tools Supporting teaching, research and student projects, including demonstrating workshop equipment Providing technical guidance and design advice for experimental rigs and equipment Maintaining, servicing and repairing equipment to ensure minimal disruption to operations Collaborating with staff, students and external stakeholders, while supporting and mentoring junior technicians and apprentices We welcome candidates who bring diverse perspectives, experiences and approaches to their work. About You We encourage applications from individuals with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. You should demonstrate: Essential Criteria Qualification in a science or engineering discipline (or equivalent experience) Experience using conventional and CNC machining equipment and interpreting engineering drawings Experience in a technical or engineering role, including machining to tight tolerances and use of CAD/CAM Strong communication, teamwork and customer service skills Knowledge and application of health and safety practices in a technical environment Desirable Criteria Experience supporting teaching or delivering practical sessions Experience working in a Higher Education or research environment Knowledge of laboratory equipment servicing and repair Previous supervisory or line management experience We value transferable skills and real-world experience as much as formal qualifications.
