The Greater Miami Expressway Agency (GMX) maintains high standards for transportation operations and is dedicated to improving traffic operations throughout the five GMX toll roads which include SR924, SR112, SR836, SR874 and SR878 in Miami-Dade County. The GMX Transportation Management Center (TMC) staff proactively manages planned and unplanned incidents by providing accurate, timely and meaningful traffic information to the motoring public while coordinating resources with the Road Ranger Safety Service Patrols and first responders. The goals of the TMC program is to provide high-quality services and coordinate with area stakeholders/agencies to manage quick detection and safe clearance of incidents. This position is based at the collocated FDOT District 6 and Florida Highway Patrol control room. Job Summary: The responsibilities of the GMX Traffic Management Center Supervisor/Dispatcher includes: Comprehensive knowledge and experience with GMX TMC Operator responsibilities. Expectation to perform GMX TMC Operators tasks during peak times and when Operators are on breaks and/or paid time off. Responsible for all real-time, shift management aspects of the control room's operation, to include supervising active incidents, personnel scheduling, monitoring and reporting (if needed) equipment functionality, maintaining active communications (as events predicate) with other agencies. Monitor all lane blockage/closure events to ensure that all required fields in the SunGuide® software are entered correctly. Oversight of all Operator secondary position responsibilities, assuring expectations are being met and the appropriate training has been provided for the proper execution of said functions Maintain awareness of activities in the control room to assist other GMX TMC Operators when they are in need of assistance. Assume the role of control room Operator should depleted staffing levels dictate. Oversee construction coordination and Road Ranger dispatching from the control room, assuring quality levels are being consistently met. Availability for all "on-call" responsibilities (weekends and nights). Ensures shift change logs are accurate. Assure routine, accurate and timely processing of all control room staff timesheets. Conduct personnel performance auditing assessments, tracking results. Ensure adherence to established policies and procedures. Organize and coordinate all employee training, initial and recurrent (as conditions warrant). Execute event-specific traffic operations plans. When asked, participate in post-incident analysis. Verify receipt and accuracy of Road Ranger schedule and that the Road Ranger schedule is updated and accurate in SunGuide software. Set positive example for GMX TMC Operators by conveying professional attitude, behavior, and work ethics at all times. Minimum Requirements: HS/GED Equivalent + 2 or more years prior experience as Traffic Monitoring Operator or other relevant experience Must pass a state and federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Florida Department of Transportation fingerprint-based screening. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and successfully participate in the program's mandatory random drug screening process Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time monitoring Intelligent Transportation Systems such CCTV camera displays, meters, law enforcement radio broadcasts, answering/responding to calls and communicating to staff or partner agencies. Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment.
