Job Description Summary The MI Lab Operations & Systems Engineers is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness, performance, and regulatory compliance of Molecular Imaging (MI) systems, including PET/CT and SPECT/CT platforms, within an engineering lab environment. This role supports engineering, verification & validation, and development teams by maintaining imaging systems, handling radioactive materials, managing lab infrastructure, and ensuring adherence to radiation safety, EHS, and quality standards. The technician plays a key role in minimizing system downtime and enabling seamless lab operations across multiple systems. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities: Operate, monitor, and maintain PET/CT and SPECT/CT systems, ensuring system readiness, uptime, and optimal performance across multiple scanner bays. Perform system installation, calibration, alignment, preventive maintenance, and lifecycle support to ensure reliable system performance. Maintain system components, perform repairs and replacements, and ensure systems are updated with approved software and firmware version. Support engineering activities, including system configuration, test setup, execution, and data acquisition for validation. Execute laboratory and validation testing, including inspection and system performance verification. Troubleshoot system issues, perform root cause analysis, and apply technical judgment to implement effective corrective actions. Handle, store, track lifecycle, and dispose radioactive materials, sources, and phantoms in compliance with safety regulations, working closely with RSO. Ensure compliance with EHS and radiation safety standards, maintaining documentation and supporting audits in coordination with RSO. Maintain and enhance MI lab infrastructure, collaborating with facility teams for upkeep of scanner bays, engineering systems, and environmental conditions. Support design, setup, and continuous improvement of MI lab infrastructure, test facilities, and instrumentation systems. Manage spare parts lifecycle including ordering, tracking, import/export coordination, customs clearance, and warehouse storage in collaboration with logistics teams. Maintain accurate documentation in alignment with GEHC QMS, EHS, including maintenance records, calibration data, SRA, and SOPs Drive operational excellence by improving system reliability, uptime, and adherence to GEHC quality and safety standards Develop in-depth technical expertise in molecular imaging systems and subsystems, contributing to continuous improvement Collaborate across cross-functional teams and provide guidance to junior team members to support overall program objectives Educational Qualifications: Diploma / bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or Nuclear Medicine Technology Required Qualifications: Hands-on experience with medical imaging systems (PET/SPECT preferred) Knowledge of radiation safety protocols and regulatory compliance Experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and calibration Experience in software installation, upgrades, and system configuration Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities Desired Characteristics: Experience working in Molecular Imaging or Nuclear Medicine lab environments. Certification/training in PET/CT, SPECT, or radiation safety Experience in handling and maintaining complex multi-system lab environments and engineering setups.
