We are excited to announce that, due to an internal promotion, we are looking for a permanent part time, term time only, Learning Support Assistant to work at our Centre in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham. We have a high number of learners who need special educational needs and need additional help whilst in the classroom. We are looking for someone who has a real passion for working with young people aged 16+ to help made a difference to their learning experience, which will then help them to progress into either further education, apprenticeships or employment. Job Purpose: The successful application will be under the direct/instruction of Teaching Staff or appropriate Team Manager, to provide general support to staff and students. Key Responsibilities are: Supporting Teaching and learning in the Centre Caring for the welfare of pupils in school and providing pastoral support when needed Work as a team to ensure smooth delivery of qualifications Organising equipment and resources and assisting with administration tasks Assisting with behaviour management of pupils Getting to know students and their individual needs (accessing Educational Health Care plans) Upholding Barnardo's Basis and Values The successful applicant will need to have the following: Some previous experience of working in a school setting and providing support to young people Possess or be willing to working towards an NVQ level 2 or equivalent qualification as well as possessing good literacy and numeracy skills.
