We have multiple openings for a Nuclear Enterprise Analyst to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver software and analytic capabilities on topics of importance to the nuclear enterprise, including infrastructure, workforce, and stockpile modeling and modernization program planning. These positions support the Associate Program Leader for Nuclear Weapons Evaluation and Planning, within the Weapons Infrastructure Program and reports administratively to the System and Policy Analysis Group in the Computational Engineering Division, within the Engineering Directorate. Depending on your assignment, these positions may offer a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You may have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week. These positions will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level. You will Work closely with a team of systems analysts, engineers, computer scientists, and program management to design and productionize nuclear enterprise analytics tools, including those for current stockpile modernization programs. Translate ambiguous sponsor and customer problem statements into clear analytical objectives, success criteria, data requirements, and executable analysis plans. Support efforts to collect, catalog, and interpret data for use in mathematical models, including population of databases and use of visualization tools. Develop and apply optimization, simulation, and risk-informed analysis methods, including scenario and sensitivity/uncertainty analyses, to support decision-making under uncertainty. Contribute to the fulfillment of technical projects and organizational objectives by functioning as an effective team member on multi-disciplinary teams. Contribute to the development of software tools such as native applications, dashboards, and web-based tools that support systems analysis, operations, nuclear stockpile, infrastructure, and workforce domains. Participate in the Systems Analysis Group, Nuclear Enterprise Working Group, and engage other team members to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional job responsibilities, at the SES.3 level Build and maintain effective collaborations and working relationships with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and Department Of War (DOW) enterprise modeling communities, including assisting in engagement of relevant decision makers. Lead development of mathematical optimization and simulation models for applications in systems analysis, nuclear stockpile, infrastructure, and workforce domains. Independently execute and perform quality assurance (QA) complex analyses and post-processing under limited direction, delivering tailored final reports and briefings that translate technical results into actionable decisions for senior sponsors. Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship. Bachelor's degree in operations research, engineering, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Comprehensive knowledge and experience in translating ambiguous problem statements into analytical approaches, including defining objectives, success criteria, data needs, and analytical methods. Comprehensive experience applying analytical skills to research, interpret, analyze, compile, and present technical and business data and information. Experience with effectively managing concurrent technical tasks with competing priorities and meeting deadlines that are important to project success. Comprehensive knowledge and experience in performing complex, multi-factor analyses (for example, sensitivity/uncertainty analysis, optimization, scenario analysis, or risk-informed analysis) to support decision-making under uncertainty. Comprehensive knowledge and experience in developing software applications and performing analysis with either Python, SQL, TypeScript, Go or C++, within Windows or Linux environments. Proficient written and verbal communication skills to prepare, present, and document technical information to diverse audiences. Ability to travel off-site for sponsor and customer interaction. Additional qualifications at the SES.3 level Significant experience managing and/or motivating multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with scientists, engineers, analysts, and project managers across disciplines and/or organizations to achieve project objectives; partnering with other laboratories and/or external organizations as necessary. Advanced experience as a project coordinator and/or principal investigator of projects with competing priorities, loosely defined deliverables, and high visibility.
