About the role

This position is located in the Executive Office of the President (EOP), Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Office of General Counsel (OGC). MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards. ALL QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria listed below in order to meet the basic requirement for Attorney - Advisor (FOIA), 0905. Education: Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Law (LL.B), Master of Law (LL.M), or Juris Doctor (J.D.) law degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA). (Must submit a copy of your transcripts with the degree conferred date, failure to do will result in an incomplete application.) Bar Membership: Applicants must be an active member in good standing with the bar of the highest court of a state, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia, and must hold a current, unrestricted license to practice law. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the Basic Requirements described above (Law Degree & Bar Membership), your resume must demonstrate a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following: Conducting complex legal analysis and drafting legal documents as an attorney. You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following: Making recommendations on policies, analyzing and evaluating complex legal issues, and advising senior leadership on legal matters as an attorney. You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following: Providing complex legal advice, performing legal research, drafting legal documents, and handling litigation, as an attorney. *Experience in FOIA is preferred, but not mandatory. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
