About the role

Makoto-Ya is a leading Japanese food and beverage importer and distributor in Singapore. We represent premium Japanese brands including Sapporo Beer, Yebisu Beer, award-winning sake breweries, and Japanese rice from our own rice fields in Japan. We are looking for a Shipping Executive to support our growing import and export operations. No prior shipping experience is required, comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. We are looking for someone who is organized, meticulous, and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process shipping and import/export documentation
  • Liaise with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and logistics partners regarding shipment arrangements.
  • Coordinate with bonded warehouse operators and transport providers to ensure timely movement of goods from the port to our warehouse.
  • Track shipment schedules and monitor cargo arrival dates.
  • Assist with customs clearance and regulatory documentation.
  • Liaise with government agencies such as Singapore Food Agency (SFA) and Singapore Customs when required.
  • Ensure all shipping records and documents are properly filed and maintained.
  • Support inventory and warehouse teams by providing shipment updates and relevant documentation.
  • Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • No experience required; training will be provided.
  • Fresh graduates and candidates looking to start a career in logistics/shipping are welcome to apply.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple shipments and deadlines.
  • Comfortable communicating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
