Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of Plant Mechanics, aligning daily execution with annual operational goals while fostering a strong safety culture and positive labour relations.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment, engines, and compressors across the Dawn Hub and remote sites (e.g., Oil Springs East, Dow A, Tipperary, Chatham D, Corunna, Sombra).
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities in partnership with Planning, ensuring effective scheduling, resource utilization, and completion of preventative and priority work.
  • Oversee compliance with regulatory codes, technical standards, environmental and safety requirements, including supporting audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Manage day-to-day operations including emergency response (24/7 accountability), contractor coordination, documentation control, and continuous improvement of facility reliability and performance.
  • Support capital and operational projects including design input, construction, commissioning, and development of long-term (10-year) asset plans and budgets in collaboration with Asset Planning and Engineering.
  • Administer team operations such as performance evaluations, approvals (overtime, time off), procurement processes (RFQs/RFPs), and vendor/contractor relationships to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
  • What You Have:
  • University degree in Engineering Science.
  • Related university degree and seven-plus years' experience OR nine‐plus years of previous field operations experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
  • College graduate in the field of a Millwright Mechanical Program or similar program.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, engines, and compressors with a high level of technical aptitude
  • Proven leadership and supervisory experience with the ability to guide and develop diverse teams.
  • Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving skills in complex operating environments
  • Solid understanding of OHSA requirements and commitment to safety and compliance
  • Effective communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities, meet tight deadlines, and deliver consistent results.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and familiarity with computer networks and communication systems.
  • Preferred:
  • CET or P Eng. preferred.
  • Eligible for C.E.T. Certification
  • Millwright license
  • Working Conditions:
  • On call and standby rotation is required
  • Overtime and out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Must maintain permanent residence within geographic area.
  • Salary:
  • Ranges from $111,870 - $130,000 CAD for Ontario locations based upon candidate's experience, skills, and internal equity.
  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
